DataScrape SolutionsEvery Georgia tax-sale and foreclosure lot, in one dashboard
Discount Lots runs on deal flow, and in land investing that deal flow starts with county property data. Here is how DataScrape Solutions turned 159 scattered Georgia county portals into one clean, reliable dashboard in a single week.
Client Overview
Discount Lots is a land-investing business. They buy and sell land, and the quality of every deal traces back to one thing, knowing what inventory is actually available. In Georgia, that inventory shows up as tax-sale and foreclosure listings published by county governments. The catch is that Georgia has 159 counties, and each one publishes its listings on its own portal, in its own format. For a team whose livelihood depends on spotting the right property before someone else does, that fragmentation is not a minor inconvenience. It is the core operational bottleneck.
Paul Herskovitz, CEO of Discount Lots, came to DataScrape Solutions with a clear goal. He wanted every county's available properties in one place, accurate, and refreshed on a schedule his team could trust. The public data existed. The problem was that it was spread across 159 different systems, and no single view of it existed anywhere. That is the gap we were brought in to close.
The Challenge
Georgia's tax-sale and foreclosure data is technically public, but public does not mean usable. Across the 159 county portals, the same type of listing might appear as a searchable HTML table in one county, a page laid out completely differently in the next, and a scanned PDF notice in a third. Many of the PDFs were messy. Layouts were inconsistent, fields were missing, and the formatting could change from one month to the next. What looked like a simple document to a person was, from an automation standpoint, a different problem in every county.
Discount Lots was handling this the only way they could without automation, by checking counties by hand. That approach was slow, and worse, it was easy to miss inventory. A single overlooked county could mean a missed deal. When your pipeline depends on being comprehensive and current across 159 separate sources, manual checking simply does not scale. Someone has to open every portal, read every format, and pull the details out by hand, over and over, cycle after cycle. The team needed real coverage they could rely on, not a best-effort sweep that left gaps every time.
How We Built It
DataScrape Solutions built an automated pipeline designed around the reality that no two counties look alike. Rather than force one rigid scraper onto 159 different portals, we treated each county's format as its own problem. The extraction logic was built to handle the full range of what Georgia counties actually publish, from structured HTML pages on one end to unstructured, messy PDFs on the other.
The pipeline pulls tax-sale and foreclosure listings from every one of the 159 county portals, parses the property details out of whatever format each county uses, and normalizes those details into a single consistent structure. The hard part was the inconsistency itself. HTML that changes layout from county to county, and PDFs that require real parsing to turn a printed notice into clean, fielded data. We engineered the pipeline to absorb all of that variation and consolidate every county's available properties, fully detailed, into one unified dashboard.
Instead of 159 tabs, logins, and file formats, Discount Lots got a single view of every available property, refreshed on a schedule rather than reconstructed by hand. Communication ran throughout the build, so the fields, the structure, and the output matched exactly how the team needed to work with the data. The result was not a pile of raw scrapes. It was a finished, dependable data product.
The Results
The outcome was a working, reliable pipeline delivered in one week. All 159 Georgia counties are covered, with no county left out and no coverage gaps to manage. The pipeline surfaces more than 3,500 records per month, every one of them flowing into a single unified dashboard the team can actually work from.
The manual, county-by-county checking that used to eat time and still risked missed inventory is gone. In its place is automated collection that runs comprehensively across the entire state, so the team's deal flow is now built on complete, current data instead of whatever they could get to by hand. One dashboard replaced 159 portals, and the difference shows up directly in how quickly and confidently the team can move on inventory.
The headline numbers tell the story cleanly. 159 counties covered. More than 3,500 records per month. 1 unified dashboard. Delivered in 1 week.
"DataScrape Solutions delivered a reliable foreclosure and tax sale auction data pipeline that automatically collected data from Georgia county portals into a centralized dashboard. The data was accurate, communication was excellent, and the solution met our requirements perfectly."
